Lists for the family and for shared shopping
Keep family lists and separate lists for friends, for a birthday, a trip, a picnic or a party
One person creates the list and sends the invites however they like. Everyone then works on the same list in real time: changes show up straight away, and anyone can add items, edit them, tick off what has been bought and flag what was out of stock.

If personal items ended up on a shared receipt, they can be marked separately, and Specsy leaves them out of the shared total and out of the settlement.
It does not matter how many shops, purchases and receipts the list ran through. At the end Specsy adds it all up and shows who bought what, who spent how much and who owes whom.
An invite link for people outside the household
For a party, a picnic or a one-off shared shop, you do not have to add anyone to your family group. Specsy creates an invite link you can send in any messenger or by email.
They open the link and the shared list appears in their Specsy. If they do not have the app yet, the link helps them install it and then opens the invite again.
What you can put on a list
- The exact product and the quantity, not just milk but which milk and how many
- How important it is: must-have, nice to have, optional or replaceable, so in the shop it is clear what to grab first and where a compromise is fine
- Who the purchase is assigned to, so it is clear who is responsible for that item
- A photo of the product, for anything easy to confuse with something similar
- A card from your Specsy library, so you never retype details you already have
- The shop and the section, and if the list spans several shops Specsy keeps a separate route for each so you do not circle the aisles
- A price, if the costs have to be split between everyone afterwards
- A personal mark, for anything that ended up in the shared basket by accident
